About Cardamom Indian Cuisine

Adding to the ever eclectic and celebrated food scene of Queens, comes Chef Alwyn Gudhino with his unique Cardamom Indian restaurant in Sunnyside. What makes this unique is his Portuguese Indian (Goan) cuisine offerings here. While most adolescents his age, in the former tiny Portuguese coastal state in Goa, used their spare time to enhance their football (soccer) skills in the fields, strumming a guitar on the veranda (front porch) or tiatr (theater) acting, Alwyn snooped around his Grandma’s kitchen to learn the art of Goan cooking. Cardamom Indian Cuisine is one of the finest Indian restaurant located at Sunnyside, NY. Our restaurant is best known for its outstanding Indian cuisine, excellent staff service with livery ambience. Hello World a month ago

I have gone here for 4 years in person and for takeout. The food is incredible, their spices are not exactly what you get everywhere else. It’s more delicious somehow and a bit more varied. The vindaloo really tastes sour-spicy and aged. The korma is a little grainy and really rich and nutty. The xacutti was my favorite but it turns out I can’t eat poppy seeds. When I became allergic to them the owner offered to make me xacutti without them if I call ahead which was so nice :) Be aware that food prices are going up all over the city and this place is no exception. Also it’s family run and I think some days the family members present are different so you can get some variation in certain dishes. I actually kind of like the variation because it’s always good. Also they are not perfect with their websiteβ€” definitely tell them if they need to update a website price.

Cardamom in Sunnyside is one of my favorite restaurants in Queens, and it’s earned a well-deserved Michelin Bib Gourmand recognition. As a vegetarian, I always feel genuinely taken care of here β€” the menu has thoughtful vegetarian options that are full of flavor, not just afterthoughts. The service is warm, the space is cozy, and you can tell everything is made with real care. My friend Anil has built something special here, and I can’t recommend it enough.

After being a customer for more than three years, today was the final straw. This will be my last visit to this restaurant. I ordered Goat Biryani that was listed on the menu for $20, yet I was charged $25. I have photos of both the menu and the receipt. As a loyal customer, I expected honesty and consistency, but instead I left feeling completely disappointed. What is even more frustrating is how drastically the food quality has declined. The biryani I received looked and tasted nothing like the dish I used to enjoy. The flavor was bland, the quality was poor, and the entire meal felt rushed and careless. Each visit seems worse than the last. Over the past several months, I’ve watched the quality go down while the prices keep going up. Paying more and receiving less has become the norm here. Unfortunately, the restaurant I once enjoyed no longer exists in the same form. After three years of support, I can honestly say this is my last day as a customer. I will not be returning, and I cannot recommend this place to anyone looking for quality fo

ββ˜†β˜†β˜†β˜† I have been a loyal customer of this restaurant for over three years, but my recent experience was extremely disappointing. The menu clearly listed the Goat Biryani at $20, yet I was charged $25. I took photos of both the menu and my receipt as proof. What makes this even worse is that the food quality has been declining for quite some time. The biryani no longer tastes like proper biryani. It feels like plain rice mixed with a little curry and served as β€œbiryani.” The flavor, quality, and overall experience have become worse day by day. Despite the noticeable drop in quality, the prices continue to increase. As a long-time customer, I feel very disappointed and frustrated. Customers should carefully check their bills and compare them with the menu prices before paying. Unfortunately, based on my experience, I can no longer recommend this restaurant. The food quality does not justify the price, and the pricing discrepancy I experienced has seriously damaged my trust in this business.

Every dish is incredible, not only during restaurant week! Highly recommended. Their naan is so fluffy, tastes like freshly made. The desserts are also good.
